Metadata outputs will be written into repository as basis for proving chain of handling, provenance and authenticity. They must be:
- valid (to schema)
- complete (contains all expected fields)
- accurate (correct transformation from log files)

- validate XML files against schemas - if necessary, correct problems in the serialisation
- define metadata templates which reflect the local application profile - compare outputs against templates and report errors
