One line summary Need to detect embedded objects within PDFs

Detailed description PDFs are deposited which may include embedded objects.
This is a particular issue with etheses as they often include a number of images and tables. Whilst it is fine to include these in the thesis submitted for examination, it may be problematic for copyright reasons if the images are then made available online. It would be useful to be able to identify any embedded objects, including any information about the original source and licensing.

Possible approaches
  • Search embedded metadata in embedded image objects for keywords indicative of copyright/licencing restrictions (eg. "copyright", "creative commons", "licence")
