Title
Nexus Characterisation

Detailed description

There are a lot of tools available for characterisation. There are native NeXus tools, Apache Tika and Jhove2. As Nexus is a scientific data format, the issue here is which one of these tools is best at format identification and validation.

Possible Solution approaches

  • comparing  native NeXus tools with Jhove2 and Apache Tika

Context
The Nexus datasets from ISIS are not publicly accessible, so it is hard for developers to work/test with these particular datasets.

Lessons Learned
Native NeXus tools already provide characterisation functions, so there isn't really the need to use Jhove2 or Apache Tika unless more complex functions are required.
