"It is fantastic working alongside practitioners to address real concerns and find some grassroots solutions to the thorny issues of digital preservation." Mashup participant in 2012
|Unfortunately we have had to cancel this event. Please check out our events page for other SPRUCE events.|
SPRUCE Mashups provide the perfect environment to work closely with your peers and solve concrete digital preservation challenges. Practitioners will (bring along and) contribute their digital data and their requirements, and will have the chance get their challenges solved, while building a business case to help them get the resources they need to preserve their data. Developers will have the chance to work closely with practitioners and solve their digital challenges while working alongside some of the top technical experts in the digital preservation field. Whether you're a digital preservation expert or a novice, there's something for everyone at our world renowned digital preservation mashups.
For more information on how our mashups work, what you will get out of them, and what attendees have said about our events, check out: Just what is a SPRUCE Mashup and what's in it for me?
Our mashups are free to attend, and we cover the costs of accommodation and subsistence. Attendees have the chance to bid for SPRUCE Awards of up to £5000 to develop, complete and embed work begun in the mashup, or to kick start digital preservation at their organisation.

Starts: 1200, 30th April, 2013
Ends: 1600, 2nd May, 2013
Venue: Level 7 Conference Room, Edward Boyle Library, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK. Please sign in at the front desk on arrival, and collect a swipe card so you can enter through the library security gates.
Dinner on Tuesday the 30th April will be at La Besi which can be found here. Note that the restaurant is unlicensed so you will need to bring your own beer/wine if you that's what you'd like to drink! There is an off licence just across the road.
Dinner on Wednesday the 1st May will be at the Mashup venue for those that would like to hacklate(TM) and/or socialise. We'll be having gourmet pizza delivered, and will be providing beer and wine.
Accommodation will be provided close to the University at Roomzzz City West, where required (Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 1st). Roomzzz has free wifi, rates 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor and is only 10 minutes walk from the hackathon venue.
It's not far, but it does involve some navigation, so make sure you have a map to hand. Note that Google Maps will take you on a much longer route than is necessary!
