Backing up Nintendo DS ROMs
Another use case from the Freiberg event which requires the backing up of copy protected console software, this time complicated by the fact that the software delivery medium is a ROM cartridge rather than an optical drive.
There was no way of copying this at the event, but a little research revealed that there are third party units that are capable of backing up DS ROMs. A how to is available on the LifeHacker site , and the ROM cards requried are available in Europe for around around 15 - 20 Euros.
Again the legality of the hardware is questionable, and I believe that the sale of such cards is illegal within the United Kingdom, so it's a good idea to check local legislation before going ahead.
